I. Responding to a Need
It has been recognized that in many years the Vietnamese people, who have lived in the United States as well as in the Greater Richmond Metropolitan Area specifically, have faced many challenges in their day-to-day life and in their ability to adapt to their communities as well as to learn and understand how to get services from federal agencies and local government offices. In responding to the encouragement from many elders in the Richmond community, many young people have realized that there is a need to establish a Richmond Viet Association (RVA.) The main objective of this organization is to establish a foundation for the Vietnamese people in the Greater Richmond Area to promote the Vietnamese culture and heritage, to share and support each other.
